I remember reading a passage in one of the books about some kind of ground meat and rice mash being served somewhere, and this is based on it. When I find the quote, I'll add it here.
I "tested" it shortly after inventing it and found it to be very tasty!
Tarsk Sausage Goulash (Just what it says only pork instead of "tarsk".. obviously)
Ingredients:
· 1 lb ground sausage · 1-2 med. Onions, quartered and thinly sliced · 2-3 cloves minced garlic · 2 cups rice (uncooked) · Black pepper (to taste) · Seasoned Salt (to taste) · 1-2 tsp paprika · A healthy dash or 2 cayenne (to taste) · A dash or 2 allspice · 1 tbsp beef bullion powder · 2 tsp ground thyme · 1 tsp ground sage · 1 tbsp fresh or dried rosemary · 1/8 tsp celery seed · 3 tbsp flour · 1 can diced tomatoes (in juice or puree) · 1 each, small green, red & yellow bell pepper, sliced · Water (enough to cover) · 1/2 -1 cup sour cream · 1-2 tsp worcestershire
Directions:
1. Place sausage, onions, minced garlic & Rice in large Dutch oven or stockpot over med heat 2. Add and spices (including bullion) and sauté until onions are tender and meat and rice are browned. 3. Add flour and stir it in until all is coated and it doesn't look like flour at all. 4. Slowly stir in water until mixture is a little more liquid than a thick sauce. 5. Add tomatoes & peppers. 6. Add additional water to cover all, plus a little bit and stir well. 7. Bring to a boil. 8. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer until rice is tender, stirring occasionally. 9. Stir in sour cream & worcestershire and stir frequently for another 2-3 minutes. 10. Remove from heat and serve
