The Importance of Keeping a Journal
Write an essay, in your own words, detailing why it is important for a slave to keep a journal. Post the essay into a journal entry titled, "Writing Assignment - Importance of Keeping a Journal"
It is strongly recommended that you follow some of the links listed below and read articles others have written before you write the essay, but you should not simply parrot or paraphrase others' words in your writing. Your essay should be completely your own work and it should be clear to anyone reading that you put a good deal of thought into writing it.
• The essay should consist of an opening paragraph, at least three body paragraphs, and a closing paragraph.
• You should spell check your work carefully.
• The answers to the questions below should all be addressed (not necessarily in order, as long as they are all covered). Please note that you are not writing a list of answers, but an actual essay. If you are not sure what that entails, you can do an internet search on simple essay writing.
• What is the primary purpose of keeping a journal, in general?
• What additional values to keeping a journal are there specifically for slaves? (List at least five things)
• How and why can keeping a journal be a part of serving your owner?
• How does keeping a journal help facilititate open communication?
Below are some links to help you think about the above questions.
*It should be noted that even if you do not identify yourself with BDSM, kink, or what have you (I know that Gor is not part of BDSM, and that other forms of D/s exist and many practitioners do not classify themselves as kinky, and a D/s lifestyle is not "play"), these articles are all useful regarding slave journals, regardless of your level and type of dynamic.*
**It should ALSO be noted that these links are included ONLY on the merit of the specific articles themselves! Some of the links and "training materials" that can be found clicking on them are complete BS and just people trying to make a quick buck selling their DVDs!**
• A Submissive's Journal: Starting your journal -
From: ASL Communities. Note, the article linked is good. Their "Gorean" section is complete hogwash/online RP based and is best avoided!
• The Importance of Keeping a Slave Training Journal - From: The BDSM Training Academy.
• Submissive Journaling - From: A Kinkster's Guide (blog).
• Dominants Aren’t Mind Readers – But We Can Be… Sort Of: Keeping A Submissive’s Journal - From: dominantguide.com. Even though it is aimed at the "D types" or owners, slaves would do well to read this article.
Several of the articles provide links to journal or blog sites, and each author has their own favourite(s). Personally, I like Journalscape best. It's very simple, completely free, supports additional pages and links, can be used with or without HTML, and has the ability set individual posts to private, public, or to create different password protected groups with which to share different posts.
